At this forthcoming solo exhibition I will be showing a major new work “Rise & Fall”. The show is sculpture installation which consists of two life sized bronze trees.
The first tree has fallen “leaves” of US Dollars through which are growing a pocket of gold plated bronze mushrooms. The second tree is a silver plated bronze cherry tree blooming “blossoms” of Chinese banknotes, housed in an octagonal mirrored room the reflections of which give the illusion of an endless “forest” of trees. The work relates to the current financial crisis, the idea of “perpetual growth”, greed and the shifting balance of power away from the US and the West and the ascent of China as new world power.
